The Next Generation of Skin Resurfacing
Dermatology Associates was one of the first practices in the country to offer the Fraxel Laser when it was launched and continued to break ground with the Fraxel Laser 1500SR and the Lumenis Active, Deep and TotalFX fractional lasers.

Fractional CO2 lasers repair damaged skin without the disadvantages of traditional CO2 lasers. Rather than remove the top layer of skin, like ablative lasers, they create microscopic sites of thermal impact separated by areas of unaffected tissue. The spared tissue between treatment zones contains cells that promote rapid healing. At the same time, each micro thermal zone penetrates deep into the dermis stimulating collagen remodeling and new skin.

Lumenis Active, Deep & TotalFX
The ActiveFX, Deep and TotalFX procedures vary in intensity and are often combined. We use topical numbing cream to minimize discomfort during the treatment, with no anesthesia necessary.

Afterward the treated skin feels like it has been sunburned. During the healing process skin will start to flake off within 2 days and pinkness will be gone in about a week. Skin is noticeably tightened immediately afterward and most patients say they look 5 - 10 years younger.

Fraxel re:store Laser
We're home to Grand Rapids' first Fraxel SR1500 Laser, after helping launch the Fraxel Laser when it was first introduced. The Fraxel SR1500 has been upgraded to become the Fraxel re:store. The advantage is quicker, more comfortable and deeper treatments while eliminating the need for blue dye during the procedure (which was necessary with the first generation laser.)

The Fraxel Laser transforms skin, resetting its clock to a more youthful glow. Most patients see significant improvement within two to three weeks but the final results may not be apparent for a month or more. Optimal results are usually obtained after 2 – 4 treatments.

Our patients have seen a significant reduction of lines, wrinkles, age spots, uneven skin tone, surgical scars and acne scars while gaining luminosity and collagen. Many have stopped using foundation entirely and report that they now have the best skin of their lives.

Even though Fraxel laser treatment delivers ablative laser results, it requires little to no downtime, allowing you to quickly return to your normal routine.
